Insano Steve’s One Sentence Reviews-O-Matic (Japanese Hipsters Edition)

It's this week's Insano Steve's one sentence review-o-matics. If you missed the previous editions, check out Perverted Militant Edition, Japanese Militant Edition, Slice and Dice Japanese Edition and Koreans are Wacky Edition. I tasked Insano Steve to review every movie in his DVD collection but instead he gave one sentence reviews (lazy bastard).

This week's edition: Japanese Hipsters Edition! This is probably the last of the IS Review-O- Matics. Enjoy.

  • Suicide Club - there's lots of turnover in this club. i can't imagine how depressing the club meetings must be. can you guess how this movie ends? only in japan!

  • Stacy - another average japanese zombie movie. in sailor moon outfits.

  • Pulse - print screeno! otherwise, just a terrible movie.

  • Tomie - girl kills boyfriend. dies. gets reincarnated. kills new boyfriend. dies. repeat cycle. wildly ambiguous ending!

  • Party 7 - from the makers of funky forest. about a party with 7 people. all of them obnoxious. lots of screaming. lots of posing. a japanese 'jersey shore'.

  • Stereo Future - another hipster japanese movie about samurais, oxygen bars, mute girls, and being hopelessly ambivalent. but i liked it anyway.

  • Messengers - my favorite quirky japanese film. it's a movie about bike messengers. and the women who love them.

  • Eko Eko Azarak series - 3 movies about a japanese teenage witch. a staggering lack of nudity.

  • Blister - about japanese otakus/fan boys that fight to the death for a super rare action figure. not that bad. not that good either.

Insano Steve’s One Sentence Reviews-O-Matic (Koreans are Wacky Edition)

It's this week's Insano Steve's one sentence review-o-matics. If you missed the previous editions, check out Perverted Militant Edition, Japanese Militant Edition and Slice and Dice Japanese Edition. I tasked Insano Steve to review every movie in his DVD collection but instead he gave one sentence reviews (lazy bastard).

This week's edition: Koreans are Wacky Edition! Enjoy.
  • Memento Mori - The Korean lesbian atrocity. Nowhere near as good as I just made that sound.

  • The Record - After making an impromptu snuff film, an exceptionally attractive Korean cast is killed off one by one. Chae Young Han!

  • Attack the Gas Station - My personal favorite Korean movie. It's about a Korean gas station that is being held hostage. Features lots of wacky hijinks and assorted foolishness!

Insano Steve’s One Sentence Reviews-O-Matic (Slice and Dice Japanese Edition)

It's this week's Insano Steve's one sentence review-o-matics. If you missed the previous editions, check out Perverted Militant Edition and Japanese Militant Edition. I tasked Insano Steve to review every movie in his DVD collection but instead he gave one sentence reviews (lazy bastard).

This week's edition: Slice and Dice Edition! Enjoy.
  • 2LDK - 2 female roommates end up fighting each other to the death for trivial reasons. Over the top madness. Another classic.

  • Azumi series - Female Japanese swordplay movie. Cute girl. An overall fun series, even though the action scenes are dubious, with the sword probably weighing more than the actress.

  • Versus - Samurais. Yakuzas. Zombies. Interdimensional portals. This is what started my Japanese fixation in the first place.

  • Battle Royale series - Part 1 was great. Part 2 sucked. The idea's been copied to death. I own both movies. .....on VCD!!!

  • Ichi the Killer - Just because. The best manga/anime inspired movie ever. Miike at his best.

  • Naked Blood - A scientist creates a drug that turns pain into pleasure. Has a spectacular vaginal trauma climax (see what i did there?)
Yummy eyeballs!

Steve's Movie Review Of The Day: Rapeman

Rapeman aka Ô Edo Rapeman
Rapeman (1996)
Directed by Takao Nagaishi

Steve's Review

Only Japan would do this. If you've become desensitized to violence (and who hasn't?) then it's time to become desensitized to rape. The Rapeman Service is a rape-for-hire business in Japan that works for those who can not find justice otherwise. For a simple retainer, the Rapeman will 'right wrongs through penetration'. Of course, being raped by the Rapeman is such an honor, one wonders if it even qualifies as rape as most 'targets' can only beg to see more of our hero's 'super powers'. This movie is so wrong, it's gotta be right. You'll laugh at the rape, feel guilty, then watch some more. God bless all that is Japan!

HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

**Bonus Steve's Movie Review Of The Day: Tomie**

Tomie
Tomie (1999)
Directed by Ataru Oikawa

If The Ring was the Japanese 'Scream', then this is the Japanese 'Urban Legend'. Underrated flick features title character being continuously murdered then subsequently resurrected. Apparently, girl is so hot, she'll cause guys to kill each other, themselves and/or her. This has been happening over and over for hundreds of years. One really has to bring into question the Japanese ability to solve murders when you hear that. Wildy ambiguous ending!
